About IP Brainbox

Built for Better Patent Portfolio Decisions

IP Brainbox was built to help patent owners make clearer, more defensible decisions about their intellectual property.

Patent portfolios are expensive to maintain, difficult to evaluate, and often underused. Many companies own patents without a clear view of which assets are valuable, which ones should be reviewed, which ones may be licensing candidates, and which ones no longer justify continued spend.

IP Brainbox brings structure to that process.

The platform combines patent valuation, claim-breadth analysis, maintenance-fee intelligence, portfolio review workflows, and monetization tools to help IP owners evaluate patents with more discipline and less guesswork.

Our goal is simple: help legal, finance, strategy, and innovation teams understand what they own, what it may be worth, and what actions they should consider next.

Why IP Brainbox Exists

Patent decisions are often made under pressure.

Maintenance fees come due. Budgets tighten. Business units change direction. Companies acquire portfolios. Universities need to decide which assets are worth continuing. Startups need to explain the value of their patents to investors. Law firms need practical tools to help clients organize portfolio review.

Too often, these decisions are made using disconnected spreadsheets, manual review, incomplete data, or subjective impressions.

IP Brainbox was created to give patent owners a more practical operating system for portfolio decisions.

The platform is designed to support questions such as:

  • Which patents should we pay, review, or abandon?
  • Which assets have stronger claim breadth?
  • Which patents may have licensing or sale potential?
  • Which assets are consuming maintenance spend without clear strategic value?
  • Which parts of the portfolio deserve closer legal or business review?
  • How can we document the basis for our portfolio decisions?

IP Brainbox does not replace legal judgment. It gives teams better data, clearer indicators, and repeatable workflows so that judgment can be applied more efficiently.

Founder Background

IP Brainbox was founded by Wale Godo, a patent attorney and former electrical engineer with more than two decades of combined experience in patent law, engineering, and technology evaluation.

Wale's patent practice has included drafting and prosecuting U.S. patent applications across a wide range of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, neural networks, speech recognition, augmented reality, high-performance computing, battery management systems, semiconductor packages, wireless systems, antennas, camera modules, optical systems, electronic components, and related hardware and software technologies.

Before practicing law, Wale worked as a systems engineer in radar system integration and test, where he helped evaluate invention disclosures, assess technical innovations, and support complex engineering programs involving radar systems, embedded software, signal processing, and mission-system interfaces.

That combination of patent prosecution, engineering analysis, invention review, and portfolio decision-making shaped the foundation of IP Brainbox.

Built from Real IP Experience

IP Brainbox is not a generic AI tool with patent language added on top.

It was designed from practical experience with how patents are created, prosecuted, reviewed, valued, maintained, and commercialized.

The platform reflects several realities of patent ownership:

  • A patent's value depends on more than its title or citation count.
  • Claim breadth matters.
  • Maintenance-fee decisions need business context.
  • Patent portfolios should be reviewed systematically, not only when fees are due.
  • Licensing and monetization require more than a static list of patent numbers.
  • Legal, finance, and business teams need outputs they can understand and discuss together.

IP Brainbox connects these considerations into one workflow.

What IP Brainbox Helps Teams Do

IP Brainbox helps users evaluate and manage patents through tools for:

  • Patent valuation using PSRP-style value indicators.
  • Claim-breadth analysis to help assess the practical scope of patent protection.
  • Maintenance-fee review to support Pay / Review / Abandon decisions.
  • Portfolio intelligence for organizing assets by value, risk, technology area, and business relevance.
  • Scenario analysis for pruning, budgeting, and renewal planning.
  • Licensing and monetization workflows to identify assets that may deserve commercial attention.
  • Exportable reports that support internal discussion, review, and documentation.

The purpose is not to give a one-word answer. The purpose is to help teams make better-informed decisions and preserve the reasoning behind them.

Our View

Patents should not sit in a database until a maintenance deadline appears.

They should be evaluated, compared, challenged, prioritized, and connected to business strategy.

IP Brainbox exists to make that process easier.

We believe patent owners deserve tools that are practical, transparent, and built specifically for the realities of IP portfolio management.

IP Brainbox helps turn patent data into portfolio decisions.
